Well here we are at the end of August 2009 and it is a bit chilly. Working on scarves, mittens and winter hats totally is practical today :-P It also draws a close to summer nights with fire flies, moths and butterflies. The smell of sunshine on the laundry that has hung on the line to dry and the sounds of neighbors lawn mowers in the evenings, the sun going down close to 9 pm and the sound of kids playing outside until 10 pm.
Yes, I know that September still has some great days ahead but the knowledge of summer ending and fall creeping around the corner makes me think that soon the snow will fly and we will be stuck inside with windows closed and dreaming of warmth and fresh air.
Thank-you Lord, for a wonderful summer - even though people say it wasn't warm enough and the kids proclaim not long enough, but it is here for a reason....to remind us that this is what we long for in the middle of winter while shoveling snow.
